They Really Are Just Like Us

I openly admit to checking out US Weekly pretty darn religiously. However I will proudly say I have weaned myself off $3.95 addiction every Friday and been more or less content with the online version of the high-end tabloid.

Today's "Just Like Us" answers the age old question of why average citizens are obsessed with celebrities and why paparazzi are paid millions for the perfect picture. That's right. Britney is reading about her own love life. Obviously she knows what is true and false, but the desire to know what others think and perceive is just human nature. So is passing judgement ("I can't believe Brit even married K-Fed, he's such white trash") and jealousy ("She's so rich she doesn't have an excuse to not have her act together").

So here's to you US Weekly. You know just how to play on the human emotions. Curiosity and insecurity are faults of all of us, even celebrites. If you get more pictures of celebrities reading about themselves, you'll be in business for a long time. You may catch me bashing America's obsession with celebrities but secretly, I'm routing for you.
